Relationships

At the moment, Sarah is obsessed with it.....Every so often she will informed us (and also strangers) how we are related to one another. You're my mother and I am your daughter and Daddy is your husband and I am adik's sister......And we are family! She was initially confused with the wife/husband relationship but after a few rounds of explanations (and tears...hers not mine although that was a close call) she has got it now.

When reading she will look at the pictures and allocate labels of the mom, dad and kids and happily annouced 'they are family'.

Going green

Finally we got around to buying some cloth nappies. So today after much delay, we put the first one on.......so far so good. Haris seems to take it all in his stride but his father didn't look too happy, so it would be safe to assume that the nappy changing job will be all mine for the next few days until he can be persuaded that it is not that fiddly a job to do. Besides, not a single nappy pin in sight.....

Conversations with Sarah

SAD Version 1.1
M: SARAH!! (high pitch of course)
S: I am sad, I am very very sad
M: Why?
S: Because you are bad with me ( translation: because you are angry with me)
M: I am angry because you have been naughty
S: Sorry mummy
M: Okay, don't do it again
S: I won't do it again, I promise. You not angry with me now?
M: (shakes head)
S: Yea....I am not sad now

SAD Version 1.2
S: Daddy, I am very very sad
D: Why?
S: Because Mummy is bad with me ( translation, see above)
D: Is she?
M: Eh? What?
S: Daddy....(sob sob)
D: Don't be upset Sarah
M: What happened?
S: Mummy so bad, I don't want Mummy, I want YOU Daddy
D: Oh, okay....
Mummy gives up and Daddy is confused, and once again she has him wrapped around her little finger

SLEEP
M: Sarah, remember what we talked about last night?
S: What mummy?
M: About big girls going to sleep on their own?
S: What mummy?
M: Big girls can go to sleep, and the mummy just sit outside?
S: Don't go away mummy. Stay with me
M: Are you not a big girl?
S: Tomorrow when I get bigger and bigger, I can sleep by myself. Tomorrow!!!
And so Mummy sits by the bed for another night....wrapped around her other little finger
